The oldest Masonic Lodge in Deland, FL is St. John's Masonic Lodge. Its cornerstone was laid on Sept 14, 1925, and its address is 2557 N. Spring Garden Ave, Deland, FL. James Knox's New Worship Center is just across the street at 2578 N. Spring Garden Ave, Deland, FL.
Years ago, this St John's Masonic Lodge was located in downtown Deland across from another church, the United Methodist Church.
At that time, Lodge members worshiped an inverted cross that reflected on their wall when the sun hit the cross on the church at a certain time. The churches, also run by Masons, are often built across from Masonic Lodges to give them (the churches) occult power.

Maitland Brooks Knox, James Knox's father, was a wealthy International Banker and according to his obituary, he was active in Rotary. As seen on James Knox's High School graduation picture, he was a member of Interact, a Rotary International Service Club.
